Our skin is our largest organ & making sunscreen a part of our daily routine can go a long way in protecting our skin and preventing long-term damage (premature aging, sunburns, & skin cancer). But did you know that a vast majority of the sunscreens currently on the market are potentially doing more harm than good?

Well, I definitely didn't. I used chemical (conventional) sunscreens for years without knowing or realizing the dangerous chemicals and ingredients in them, and what they were actually doing to my skin. The good news is, I've found a better option & am sharing what works for me, in hopes that it might help you too!

Do you know the difference between chemical and mineral sunscreen?

Chemical sunscreen acts like a sponge.

Chemical sunscreens use many harsh ingredients (aka chemicals) to absorb UV rays before they can cause damage to our skin. These chemicals can be absorbed into our bloodstream and have been linked to hormone disruption, cell damage, and even cancer. Additionally, when we swim in the ocean or other bodies of water, these chemicals can be harmful to marine life.

Mineral sunscreen acts like a shield.

Mineral sunscreens use natural minerals, such as zinc oxide and/or titanium dioxide, to create a physical barrier that reflects the sun's rays away from the skin – they act like a shield. Zinc oxide is a natural mineral that is safe for our skin and the environment, and is effective at blocking both UVA and UVB rays, making it a reliable option for sun protection.

By using mineral sunscreen, we can reduce our exposure to harmful chemicals and protect our environment!

My mineral sunscreen picks.

1. Young Living Mineral Sunscreen

Young Living’s Mineral Sunscreen Lotion SPF 50 offers broad-spectrum protection from harmful UVA and UVB rays. This product is reef safe, free from harsh chemicals, and great for children and adults, so the whole family can enjoy the outdoors worry free!

It's made with non-nano zinc oxide to give you confidence and peace of mind that you are choosing the safest sun protection for yourself, your family, and the planet.

It is great for all skin types (yep, even sensitive skin like mine) and won't burn or sting little's eyes or faces.

2. Sun Bum Mineral Sunscreen

Sun Bum Mineral SPF 50 Sunscreen Spray is another great mineral based sunscreen option that comes in a spray for quick & easy application!

Make sure to double check you snag the fragrance free bottle - as this company also has other sunscreens that are chemical/non-mineral and have fragrance.

It's time to swap out your conventional, chemical sunscreen for non-toxic, mineral sunscreen! I'm here to help every step of the way!
